Terms of service

These terms cover your use of the Flint app (at app.flintfix.com) and this website, including the optional Flint Pro subscription. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. "Flint", "we" and "us" means the operator of flintfix.com; contact details are below.
Safety first. Flint provides reference information for competent heating professionals: manuals, fault codes, service data and AI-assisted answers drawn from them. It is an aid, not an authority. Always verify against the manufacturer's current documentation, follow the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and industry procedures, and work only within your competence and registration (Gas Safe, OFTEC or equivalent). You remain solely responsible for any work you carry out.
The service
- The free app includes boiler lookup, manuals, fault codes, service data and calculators. A free account (verified email) is needed to open manuals.
- Flint Pro adds the AI assistant ("Ask Flint" and per-boiler questions), answered from the boiler's own manual and our reference material.
- Data is compiled with care from manufacturer documentation and public sources, but manuals change and errors are possible. Where our data and the manufacturer's current manual differ, the manufacturer's manual wins.
- AI answers are generated from the manual text and can be incomplete or wrong. Treat them like a colleague's suggestion: check before acting on them.
Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- One account per person; it isn't transferable and a personal subscription isn't for team-wide sharing.
- We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service (see Acceptable use), with a refund of any unused subscription period where the closure isn't due to abuse.
- To delete your account and its data, email support@flintfix.com.
Flint Pro subscription
- Pro is billed through Stripe at the price shown at checkout (currently £9.99/month or £99/year). We never see or store your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time in the app (Help & feedback → Manage subscription) or via the Stripe portal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
- 14-day guarantee: if Pro isn't for you, email us within 14 days of your first purchase and we'll refund it in full.
- If we change prices, we'll tell you in advance and the new price applies from your next renewal — you're free to cancel first.
- Fair use: Pro is for a working engineer's day-to-day use. We may apply reasonable limits to keep the service fast and available for everyone.
Acceptable use
- No scraping, bulk-downloading, reselling or redistributing the app's data, manuals or AI output as a product or dataset.
- No attempts to bypass access controls, probe or overload the service, or share one subscription across a workforce.
- Content you submit (tips, suggestions, reports) must be yours to share; you give us permission to review, moderate and use it to improve the service, credited or not.
Ownership
Manufacturer manuals and documentation remain the property of their publishers and are provided for professional reference. The Flint name, design, compiled data and software are ours. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service; nothing more.
Availability & changes
We aim to keep Flint fast and available but don't promise uninterrupted service — maintenance, upstream providers and the general nature of the internet apply. We may improve, change or withdraw features; if we materially reduce what Pro includes mid-subscription, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused period.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that: Flint is reference software, and we aren't liable for losses arising from work you carry out, from reliance on the information or AI answers without verification, or for indirect losses such as lost profits. Our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us in that period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you're a consumer elsewhere in the UK you keep any protections of your local law.
